Product Description

 

Downhole Mud Motor is a kind of downhole dynamic drilling tool upon the power of drilling mud. Mud stream from the outlet of mud pump flows through a by-pass valve into the motor. This stream produces pressure loss at both inlet and outlet of the pump, to push the rotor into rotating, and to transmit the torque and speed onto the bit. The screw drill property mainly depends upon its property parameters.

Downhole motor is composed of four assemblies of by-pass valve, motor, cardan shaft and drive shaft ( Fig. 1) .

Troubleshooting
Problems	Possible Causes	Troubleshooting
Gauge pressure loss sudden rise	Motor speed loss	Lift downhole motor for 0.3-0.6m, examine recycling pressure, slowly enhance drilling weight .If gauge pressure rises accordingly in normal condition, the problem is speed loss.
	Motor drive shaft sticked tightly and bit nozzle plugged	Lift bit away from the bottom.. If gauge pressure is still too high, only lift out the drill for checking or to change the bit.
Gauge pressure slowly increasing (not means increase of the normal pressure loss with the increase of drilling depth	Bit nozzle plugged	Lift bit away from the bottom, again examine the pressure. If the pressure is still over recycling pressure, try to improve recycling flow rate or to move the drill pipe up and down. If it is not solved, only lift out the drill for repair or change.
	Bit wear out	Go on operating for careful watch. If still no footagerate ,lift out the drill for change.
	Formation change	Lift the drill a little bit .If the pressure is same with recycling pressure, it may go on working.
Gauge pressure slowly drops	Fluctuation of recycling pressure loss	Examine fluid flow rate
	Drill pipe damaged	Lift the drill a little bit. If the gauge pressure is still lower than recycling pressure, lift it out for examination.
No footage rate	Formation change	Appropriately change drilling weight and recycling flow rate ( Note: it must be within  the allowable range.
	Motor speed loss	Gauge pressure increases, lift the drill away from the bottom, examine recycling pressure, to increase drilling weight gradually.
	By-pass valve in OPEN position	Gauge pressure is too low, lift the drill a bit and start and stop the pump twice. If it is not solved, lift it out to check or change by-pass valve.
	Cardan shaft damaged	Often with pressure fluctuation, lift the drill a bit , less fluctuation range. Only lift it out for examining and changing.
	Bit wear out	Change new bit

 

Downhole Motor Configuration Option

* Unifrom Thickness:Reasonable to change the shape of stator housing, the stator elastomer layer of Unifrom Thickness downhole motor is thin and even. The characteristics of the downhole motor are short length, high power, high pressure drop, low rotate speed, high cooling efficiency, even thermal expansion, more widely used, more optimized structure and the lighter mass. Especially, the characteristics can prolong downhole motor's life and improve drilling efficiency in the ultra-deep well, directional well and high temperature well.
* Resistance High-temperature And Oil Based Mud:The downhole motor is suitable for high-temperature, high oil base mud system. In the conditions of less than 180°C and high oil, specially formulated stator elastomer owns high retention rates of strong force strength, tear strength and other properties. The oil-resistant elastomer with reasonable magnitude of interference has better using effect in the high-temperature, high oil base mud.
* Corrosion-resistance:After corrosion spraying to form special coating, the rotor is better corrosion, erosion and abrasion-resistant. And downhole motor is suitable for long time in the corrosive fluid.
* Air Drilling:Air drilling can protect reservoir well, improve rate of penetration, significantly shorten drilling period, take precaution against mud loss and borehole collapse, now is gradually widely used. Air drilling downhole motor is driven by gas, foam and other compressible fluids, provide power for the downhole and drives bit to penetrate rock. Air drilling downhole motor has higher technical requirements of the assembly structure, linear design of the motor stator and operation specification.
