DAMAGE AND MAINTENANCE - Damage
Analysis on the causes of damage to Auxiliary Power Cable.
1.Mechanical damage, the main reasons are as follows:
1) disassembly and assembly damage: when the equipment is disassembled and disassembled on the spot, the cable is bruised due to human operation factors, and the pulling injury is caused by lifting or excessive speed below. In addition, due to the limitation of the drilling floor area, the cable will sometimes be overbent (the bending radius is less than 36inch) and cause damage.
2) Weather factors damage: due to some working environment natural weather is relatively bad, windy and rainy season, resulting in cable broken;
3) when moving up and down along the guideway under the traction of the tour car, it may rub and hang with the wire rope on the inside of the Derick, so that the rubber of the cable will be worn out, resulting in the short circuit of the cable or other cable faults;
4) Natural aging damage: in the process of normal use, the cable joint operates with load for a long time, resulting in the expansion of insulating glue and the cracking of shell or sheath; Another part of the cable is in the swimming area, which may cause internal fatigue damage due to repeated bending and straightening.
2.Moisture and Aging of Insulation.
The cable plug is not effectively inserted in place, or the sealing ring inside the plug fails because of extrusion or aging, which leads to the water intake of the cable plug. Or drilling platform leakage of mud, production water and a variety of oil traces can easily adhere to the cable and cause cable glue corrosion and moisture; secondly, drilling fluid and various oil products may also cause perforation. The drilling site is generally 24 hours a day, and the top drive cable will continue to operate with load. In addition, with the high temperature and drying of the field working environment, the ionization of the air gap in the cable will cause local overheating and carbonation of insulation, which will lead to the continuous increase of cable operating temperature, and then cause the cable itself to overheat and accelerate the damage of insulation.
3.Terminal reflection.
Because there is no external output reactor at the output end of the frequency converter, the voltage at a certain point of the cable may be several times the normal voltage, and it will also lead to the failure of the cable due to insulation problems.
